The Great Outdoors

From Omaha to the Badlands. What a change. From boring to beautiful. The Badlands is where Peter Jackson should have filmed the Mordor bits in Lord of the Rings. We arrived at night so we had no idea what the scenery looked like. Sprouting out of the grasslands in South Dakota are these mini mountian-canyon things. We drove the Badlands lookout of the park and (almost) ran into some deer like things.

Next was the most beautiful drive I have ever done. We exited the great planes and entered the Bighorn Mountians. Out final destination for that day was Yellowstone National Park. We arrived around 1AM after driving through the snow. We got pulled over before we got to the campsite by two park rangers. They asked if we had any drugs on us (maybe they were looking to score) and after pestering me for several minutes I finally let him search my trunk. I told him all that was in there was a bunch of camping gear, but aparently I can't be trusted. After opening my trunk the other ranger called out "what's in there?" The response..."exactly what he said. A bunch of camping gear." His excuse for pulling me over? The lights shining on my lisence plate were out (now fixed).

Next stop was Grand Teton, a perfect mountian scene with beautiful blue sky and a clear mountian lake.
